How Tibson Script Brought Warmth and Personality to a Local Café’s Branding

Opening the Project: A Blank Canvas and a Fresh Font

It was early Monday morning, and I was staring at a blank brand board in Adobe Illustrator. The brief was for a new local café looking to launch with a warm, approachable identity that felt handcrafted and personal. I knew right away I wanted to start with a handwritten script font—something that felt like it had a story behind it. I’d recently downloaded Tibson Script and had been itching to test it in a real-world project.

At first glance, Tibson Script struck me as a brush-style handwritten font with a soft, flowing texture. The letters have a gentle bounce and a slightly uneven rhythm, which gives the typeface a natural, human feel. It’s not overly ornate like some script fonts, but it definitely carries personality. I could already picture it on a chalkboard sign, a coffee bag label, or a social media post for the café.

Logo Design: Finding the Right Tone

I opened a new logo draft and typed the café’s name using Tibson Script. Instantly, the design felt more inviting. The brushed texture of the font added a tactile quality that aligned perfectly with the café’s artisanal vibe. It wasn’t too formal, which was important—they wanted to appeal to young professionals and creatives who value community and quality ingredients.

I played with a few variations: all caps, lowercase, with and without ligatures. The ligatures gave it a more connected, fluid look, which worked well for the main logo. I found that using Tibson Script as a standalone logotype worked beautifully—no need for extra graphics or icons. The font itself became the hero of the brand identity.

Testing Across Brand Materials

Once the logo was approved, I started placing Tibson Script across different brand assets to test its versatility. I used it on packaging mockups for coffee bags and takeaway cups. It looked great in both black and warm brown tones, maintaining its legibility even at smaller sizes. On product labels, the font’s unique character helped the café stand out on crowded shelves.

For social media templates, I paired it with a clean sans serif for body text. This created a nice contrast while keeping the overall look cohesive. In Instagram posts and stories, Tibson Script shined as a headline font—drawing attention without being overwhelming. I also used it in print flyers and posters for upcoming events, where its brushstroke texture added visual interest and warmth.

Readability and Brand Perception

One thing I always watch for with script fonts is readability. Tibson Script strikes a good balance—it’s decorative enough to stand out, but not so stylized that it becomes hard to read. That said, I found it worked best in short-form text: headlines, brand names, quotes, and accent phrases. For longer body copy, I paired it with a clean sans serif or a classic serif font to maintain legibility and visual hierarchy.

From a brand perception standpoint, Tibson Script helped communicate authenticity and craftsmanship. The café’s target audience responded positively to the font’s hand-drawn feel, which aligned with their values of supporting small, locally-made businesses. It also gave the brand a consistent personality across both digital and printed materials.

Font Pairing and Design Flexibility

When it came to font pairing, Tibson Script worked surprisingly well with a variety of typefaces. I paired it with a soft serif for menu cards, which gave the design a timeless, elegant touch. For digital templates and web headers, I used a modern sans serif like Montserrat or Lato to create a clean, contemporary contrast.

I also tested it with other script fonts for multi-layered designs, but ultimately found that keeping it simple was better. Tibson Script has enough character on its own, so using it as the primary display font with a supporting typeface for body text created a balanced and professional look.

Practical Design Tips and Font Features

If you’re considering Tibson Script for your next project, here are a few practical tips from my experience:

Final Thoughts: A Font That Feels Like a Design Partner

By the time we wrapped up the branding package, I realized that Tibson Script had become more than just a font choice—it was a design partner that helped shape the entire identity of the café. It brought warmth, personality, and a sense of authenticity that resonated with both the client and their audience.

Whether you’re designing a logo, packaging, or digital content, Tibson Script is a versatile and expressive option that can elevate your brand’s visual language. If you’re working on a project that calls for a brush-style handwritten font with character, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. It might just be the missing piece that ties your entire brand together.
